From 13 to 16 June 2025, ‘Mulhouse 025, biennal of beginnings’, the 16th edition of the Mulhouse biennial dedicated to young artists, will be held.
Created in 2001, ‘Mulhouse 00’ showcased over 1,500 artists from French and European art schools, and its objective has remained unchanged ever since : to represent and promote young artists and encourage the emergence of a new contemporary and European art scene.
In 2025, ‘Mulhouse 025’ confirms its commitment to young people by presenting itself as the biennial of beginnings. It will be staging its major exhibition of young European artists at the Motoco site, ahead of the Art’Basel international contemporary art fair. And it will unfold over an extended period, with meetings, workshops, exhibitions and events from March to July 2025, all built in close collaboration with the Haute Ecole des Arts du Rhin (HEAR) and the Kunsthalle Mulhouse.
Over the course of 5 months, venue by venue, event by event, participants and the public will discover a multitude of beginnings – appearing alongside them, in the city of Mulhouse.
The new edition, ‘Mulhouse 025, biennal of beginnings, also reaffirms its cross-border position by joining forces with a number of Rhineland institutions. It places Mulhouse at the centre of a circle that includes France, Germany, Switzerland and Luxembourg.
By taking part in ‘Mulhouse 025, biennial of beginnings’, artists will discover the possibility of developing their work in an area united by transnational relations. In 2025, there will be a new collaboration with the Casino Luxembourg – Contemporary Art Forum, stronger links with Art Basel, the Basel International Contemporary Art Fair, the Freiburg’s French Cultural Centre, a partnership with ARTE, La Filature, Mulhouse’s national stage, of course, the involvement throughout the Biennial of the Kunsthalle Mulhouse – Contemporary art centre of national interest, the Haute Ecole des Arts du Rhin (HEAR) and Motoco.
