Dear Students,
Dear University members,
Mentally almost in summer, but not quite there yet, VERSO is getting back to you on this way. Over the semester break, the VERSO office has been busy with consultations, discussions, fine-tuning our structures, planning and implementing them directly. Many of them with the aim of being better accessible and more present for you.
We were busy handing out VERSO-lanyards (bisch jetzt au krass, will du Bändeli hesch?), selling beer, mate and highly requested sandwiches in the Barbarabar and raising our glasses with you all. We also sharpened our appearance on Instagram and on our website and created a catalogue of guidelines for external advertising, so that the cooperation between you and us will be even easier in the future.
Speaking of cooperation: With the VERSO project fund, we were able to financially support some great projects, such as the «easter beats» party.
In interviews, for example in ZETTthe VERSO Co-Presidency reported on our commitment at the university, and VERSO was also invited to speak on SRF Kulturplatz .
So much from our UniVERSO.
Very warmly,
VERSO

Elections 2023
As you might have noticed, VERSO decided to postpone the planned elections for one year. With this decision and thereby one year of extra time and know-how, more VERSO in the corridors of the Toni, the Gessi and with you, we have high hopes for the best success of this project.
However, if you are already interested in actively participating in VERSO, you can contact the student assembly of your own department at any time, regardless of the elections.
Of course, we will keep you informed about the 2023 elections on all our channels and we are already looking forward to seeing you all " standing for election" – and of course: voting!
Verso Buddy Program
Together with the International Office, VERSO developed and supervises the «VERSO Buddy Program». The programme was launched to help refugee students from Ukraine to get used to studying at the ZHdK and living in Zurich. The "Buddy Program" got off to a great start and numerous groups of ZHdK students are now mentoring groups of refugee students on a voluntary basis.
Barbarabar
Goodbye Stammtisch, hello Barbarabar!
On 13 April, the first Barbarabar under its new look took place in the entrance hall of the Toni Areal. The response was huge and didn't slow down even after the 30 free drinks. There was cheerful consumption and cosy get-togethers. Our vegetarian and vegan sandwiches were also very popular and sold out before the end of the evening. A complete success!
For this reason, we will continue to run this event for you and, as a bar run by students for students, we will continue to sell low-priced drinks (CHF 2.-) and vegetarian and vegan sandwiches (CHF 3.-).
As a new feature, we will have various board and card games ready for you, so that the evening will be even more enjoyable.
You can find out more about the Barbarabar, the entire menu and all upcoming dates on our websiteBarbara & her Barteam are looking forward to seeing you!

Semester Council 20, 21 & 22
Six students from each department meet in the Semester Council to exchange ideas and discuss fundamental, strategic topics for VERSO. The focus of the past Semesters' Councils was, among other things, the VERSO elections. At Semester Council 20 in December, Pio Steiner presented the VSUZH election procedure as invited guest and for VERSO, Noé Freuler presented various possibilities for making the future election tool attractive and accessible. Afterwards, small groups tried to collect their suggestions and recommendations regarding the planned elections via Miro in order to pass them on to the student council.
The following Semester Council 21 in January also focused on the elections and their possible postponement. This alongside the input of Elischa Link, Co-President of the VSS (Swiss Student Union)),who attended as a special guest and presented the advantages of VERSO's membership in the VSS and the associated nationwide networking with other student organisations.
Following these two topics, the semester council circularly decided on the postponement of the elections to 2023 on the one hand, and on the other hand, VERSO's accession to the VSS, in which VERSO will now officially sit from July 2022 and is striving for sustainable membership.
On 24 March, the Semester Council met again, this time not so much to discuss the elections ( but also ), rather to discuss the topic of events in a large round. In plenary and in groups, wild ideas were spun - discarded again, collected and thought about further. The semester council was able to lay the foundations for some cool, soon to come events. Stay tuned!
Mutations in the Student Council
After many years of working for VERSO, the VERSO Student Council had to say goodbye to Momo Schraner. We thank Momo for the countless hours and the great commitment to the student organisation. Momo was replaced by Lena Marie Rheinländer, whom we warmly welcome to our team!
This month we had to say goodbye to another two esteemed student councillors, Natasha Sebben (DDE) and Noé Freuler (DKV). We thank both of them for their successful efforts to give VERSO a more glamorous, "duck-abundance" and accessible corporate look.
Noe Arnold from the DDE was elected to replace Natasha and we warmly look forward to working together.
Numerous students have supported us during their studies at the ZHdK with their commitment, knowledge and, above all, their ideas and the joy of working together, often with much heart and time. We appreciate this enormously and therefore would like to honour them by newly mentioning all the names of people who have been active for the Student Council since VERSO was founded in 2016 on our website .
